When I went to my first Grateful Dead show in 1984 in the old old Charlotte Coliseum (as opposed to the new old Charlotte Coliseum, which awaits the wrecking ball as we speak), what caught my eye were the two drummers pounding out one beat while playing different rhythms. Watching Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann go at it became my favorite part of Dead shows thereafter.
That said, I’m very very disappointed in Mickey Hart.
