From NC State’s Technician:

This week, students find themselves in the season of exams, which is typically one of the most stressful times of a college student’s semester.

To help alleviate some of the scholastic tension, the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service is offering pet therapy through Pet-A-Pooch Dec. 9 in the Talley Ballroom from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Compassionate Options for Progressive Eldercare is bringing Pet-A-Pooch, an event where animals are brought in for students to pet and play with, to campus.

As the daughter of elderly parents, I can testify firsthand to the calm and happiness a dog can provide simply by being in the same room.
