I was surprised to find out that the Durham Public Schools would allow a presentation on the U.S. Constitution by the Daughters of the American Revolution. After all, it was the product of deliberation by many slave-holding white men, so how could that be good?

Just kidding, of course. After years of that kind of politically correct thinking, I’d like to think that the DPS has realized it had gone too far in the multicultural direction, which, of course, means diminishing the role of our own culture. I know. I had kids in that system from 1984 to 2003.

I couldn’t tell from the story, but I hope someone explicitly pointed out that the Constitution was written to protect us from a central, meaning federal, government. It’s an important point that is often glossed over.
