From The Public School Forum?s Friday Report:

It’s not every day that a State Board of Education asks their legislators to spend $385 million of new money without any discussion or prioritization, but that was the case this Thursday when the State Board of Education unanimously approved their supplemental budget request for the 2008-09 school year.

Frankly, I am not surprised that the SBE failed to discuss or prioritize their budget request. They rarely debate issues brought before them and nearly all of their votes are unanimous. When you have that kind of groupthink, all matters, regardless of their importance, are settled in advance.

NB: Earlier this week I highlighted the State Board of Education’s supplemental budget request.
