It’s some weird animal seen recently traipsing around the woods of Fuquay-Varina (there are a few woods left), near where I live. The article offers several speculations:

? a whippet
? a Mexican hairless dog
? a fox-possum crossbreed
? a Sampson fox, and
? my personal favorite, “the Wampus Cat, a creature from Appalachian folklore that can walk on its hind legs” (I’ve heard the tales ? for some reason I thought one would look fiercer than that).

Maybe it’s a spineful Republican, a very rare breed in these parts whose existence might belong only to legend.

By the way, George, I offered some discussion of Edward’s comments earlier this week; I think you’d enjoy it.
