About the soaring price of gasoline, that is.

So far, the grandstanding clowns in Congress have talked about suing OPEC, imposing new taxes on oil companies, and enacting punishments for “price gouging.” Oh yes, and there’s also a hideous bill to regulate carbon. Nothing at all on ways to free the market up for increased production.

The Wall Street Journal has an excellent editorial today aptly entitled “$4 Gasbags.”

We hear plenty of political blather about concern for “working families,” but when it’s decision time, most of our politicians prefer to keep on the good side of the environmental lobby — which likes high energy prices to stifle economic growth — and merely give those people aching under $70 per tank fill ups some demented rhetoric about how they’re “getting tough” with the bad oil companies.
