I get the feeling the local daily doesn’t like the Asheville Police Department. The latest stirring up is a complaint that the department waited 20 hours before requesting assistance from the public in locating the man who stole a cop car. What’s more, Mayor Terry Bellamy, who has gained international fame for cracking more than 60,000 grand theft auto cases last week alone, is considered the go-to person for the analysis.

I must add that I am very impressed that the perp was able to steal two vehicles in such short succession. He allegedly stole a pickup while fleeing after he wrecked the stolen cop car.

The good news is that the real bad guy was the cop who left the keys in the car, and the department is conducting a “thorough internal administrative investigation.”

The morals of the story are: Don’t trust; be aggressive, especially against the easy meat; push paper; and most importantly, appeal to strange authorities.
