A robbery was reported at an upscale hotel nextdoor to one and down the street from another motel notorious for drug parties. Street people reportedly burn through their monthly social security checks in those locations. The son of a friend of mine was found dead from an OD in one of those motel rooms not too long ago.
One person commenting online asked where Asheville City Council’s priorities are that they cannot address crime in this hot spot. Those who have been watching council would know that that body embraces soaking the rich developers to fund New Urbanist development and subsidize middle-class standards of living for low-income families. In other words, council’s priorities lie in expropriating the earnings of the haves for the have-nots through legislation so the have-nots won’t have to resort to violence to get their “fair share†of the booty.
