Sarah and Todd Palin have received a public apology from Levi Johnston, the father of their grandchild, for lying about them.

“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true,” Johnston tells People magazine. “I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.”

Give Johnston credit for manning up.

For two years I’ve watched as the Palin haters attempt to destroy a successful, accomplished woman with hateful, vicious comments — many of them from liberal women — rather than make a reasoned case about why Palin is, in their view, wrong on policy and issues. Will any of these haters man up as Levi Johnston has and instead engage Palin in a substantive discussion? If she is as dumb, wrong, and inexperienced as they desperately want us to believe, a real discussion would be a huge win for Palin’s policy opponents.
