I used to get mad when, adjusting to my budget in the new economy, Buncombe County leadership, through the county’s web site, would, after taxing me, instruct me how to spend less on groceries. The theme repeats with the City of Asheville’s Housing Fair, to be held September 19 at the Stephens Lee Center. Since government makes it so expensive to live within their codes, they will be providing workshops to help people explore options. We heard all through city council’s public hearing on homestay regulations: Asheville is an expensive place to live. It’s like you have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, you just don’t have the right to be anywhere.
