Once again the NIMBY (Not in My Backyard) mentality prevails in western Wake County. The Morrisville town council has rejected American Tower’s plan to build a cell tower for AT&T because, in part, the tower doesn’t fit in with surroundings. Morrisville’s action follows Cary, which earlier this year rejected the company’s proposal to build a tower for AT&T and Sprint.
I’m just wondering how western Wake officials and residents think cell phones operate. Evidently it’s all magic.
Still, tower builders continues to try to reason with western Wake towns. On Thursday, Cary officials will consider yet another cell phone tower proposal. Residents have — you guessed it — mobilized against it.
