Usually in late July, we’re following the development of several menacing hurricanes in the Atlantic. There was one early tropical storm in late May, but since then, hardly anything.

The climate alarmists jumped on that tropical storm as proof that human beings are messing up the world’s weather, but they have been quiet ever since. Only bad news counts with them.

In today’s Wall Street Journal, Professor William Gray explains that changes in hurricane activity are driven by Atlantic currents, not by atmospheric temperature. You can read his article here.

Gray concludes: “The warming theorists — most of whom, no doubt, earnestly believe that human activity has triggered nature’s wrath — have the ears of the news media. But there is another plausible explanation, supported by decades of physical observation. The spate of recent destructive hurricanes may have little or nothing to do with greenhouse gases and climate change, and everything to do with the Atlantic Ocean’s currents.”

Alternative scientific explanations — that’s just what the Al Gore types don’t want to hear or anyone to think about.
