The obvious answer is that the Democrats have so completely embraced the redistributionist, class-warfare rhetoric of the far left that anyone in the party who doesn’t agree that government always makes better use of resources than the private sector is sure to become an outcast. Unfortunately, Republicans feel free to embrace the same kind of gooey, big government rhetoric.
