Literally. The conference’s deal-making plane is next expected to land in Kansas City, as the Pac 10’s grand plans for a mega-conference are stalled at…Colorado?

The latest twist is that Texas A&M is flirting with the SEC. This is now the biggest single element in our little drama. A&M leaves the Big 12 and the conference is done. Over. A&M lands in the SEC, that puts the SEC in the game in need of another member. Easy target would be Missouri, big target would be Texas. Weird target would be West Virginia. Crazy target would be any ACC school.

Where Texas and Notre Dame end up still matter a great deal. But both are content to sit back and counter-offer, knowing that either can make or break any alignment. I still think there is a good chance that Notre Dame ends up as full-time football member of the Big East, a possibility that everyone is missing. Just an example of the kind of twists still out there.

I know ECU fans hold out hope that a Big East slot opens for them. Extremely doubtful.

Update: The latest rumor has Texas, Texas Tech, OU, and OSU ready to bolt to the Pac 10. If the conference reaches out to Utah too, bam — there is your Pac 16. The capper is then A&M and the SEC. Should that happen — watch out.
