Rob Christensen touches on Bev Perdue’s unwillingness to agree to more than five debates with her opponent, Pat McCrory.

Her decision to skip debates is foolish, if only because it allows McCrory and Mike Munger to make statements about her (to a statewide audience, no less) that go uncontested.

But there is more to it than just the debates. Perdue will pass on an opportunity to appear on N.C. Spin. The format is straightforward. “Moderator Tom Campbell, along with panelists John Hood and Chris Fitzsimon, will conduct a ?Meet the Press? type format asking questions and allowing the candidate to answer.” This is not intimidating by any means.

As Campbell observed, “Isn’t the unwillingness of a candidate to face opponents and the voters in public forums saying something about how that person will perform if elected?” Yup.
