I went to about 10 polling places this morning and saw nary a sign of a line. This was about 10 a.m. so I figured maybe the pre-work lines had already dissipated. But, no. A couple of card giver-outers said there had not been a line all morning. My precinct, Brodgen Middle School, is shown below. This was taken looking away from the entrance to the school only because the guy giving out cards didn’t want to be in the photo.

When I got there, 140 people had voted already. Normally, that number is about 125, so not much of a jump (12 percent). There were four people voting when I got there. It took me about a minute-and-a-half to cast my ballot, from entry to leaving. Maybe all the massive crowds that have been predicted will come this evening when the rented vans and buses start carting voters in from all over. If so, expect a long night waiting for results.

UPDATE: Bob Owens says it’s over. You can tell I’m an old-school vote-on-election-day kind of guy. I guess all the crowds came in dribs and drabs over the past month. I hate that. It makes election day just another Tuesday.

UPDATE: Speaking of early voting, the Civitas Institute published some statewide stats on it. Here they are.
