Isn’t it interesting that we’ve had some of the most corrupt activity in North Carolina history happening in the past five years and nary a whimper from Gov. Easley’s office calling for a SINGLE investigation?

The Tall Ships disaster, the Ferry Division fiasco, the Jim Black nightmare and now the state’s first Tax Increment Financing debacle known as the Randy Parton Theater.

All of these happened under Gov. Mike Easley’s (D) watch and yet not a single call for an investigation?  One of the state’s leading economic developers, Rick Watson, is involved. One of the chief architects of many local incentive policies, lawyer Ernie Pearson, is involved.  The Local Government Commission under the leadership of gubernatorial candidate and State Treasurer, Richard Moore, is involved and it appears that Lt. Governor Beverly Purdue is involved due to the abrupt departure of Thomas Betts from the DOT board who funneled millions to the project and also was raising money for Purdue.

Why should the press be solely responsible for uncovering this story?  A call for an investigation from the Governor would show he actually cares about the truth, unless he doesn’t.
