Yesterday’s N&R editorial once again raises the notion that
Toyota chose Tupelo over Davidson County for its new plant due to Davidson’s “trouble with air pollution.” What baffles me is the theory that the bad air is drifting up Interstate 85 from Charlotte. How can that be, considering the fact that Mecklenburg County was in compliance with EPA standards for particulate matter?

At any rate, Davidson’s particulate matter concentrations were just above the allowable limit and should go down, considering the fact that the state has already been working pretty hard to reduce air pollution. And we’re not talking biodiesel in school buses, either.
