Please allow me to toot the horn of a media company for whom I used to write regularly, American City Business Journals. As Triangle Business Journal managing editor Dale Gibson wrote in the current edition, business journalism isn’t shrinking, contrary to what may be happening to daily newspapers and other traditional media. ACBJ owns 41 weekly business newspapers across the country, including properties in the Triangle, Triad, and Charlotte. Its total weekly readership is about 4 million, more than twice that of the Wall Street Journal, and its circulation numbers have been trending upward in recent years, not downward.

TBJ by itself posted a 7 percent jump in circulation in 2006 and a 6 percent jump in 2007. Over four years, circulation is up 24 percent.

Congratulations, ACBJ (which, the last time I checked, was based in Charlotte).
