$259,300 in repairs to the Governor’s Western Residence are almost completed. The lovely 6000 sq. ft. home sits on 18 acres atop Sunset Mountain. The repairs were needed for safety. Allegedly, people have gotten shocked from aging wires and stumbled on broken masonry. According to the governor, the state wanted to avoid liabilities from somebody getting a heel stuck between stones. Sources report that the governor does not stay at the house, but she stays there. Either way, she prefers her own house and an official mansion to the east. The Western Residence was donated to the state as an inducement to get the governor to visit more. It is availed to nonprofits as a meeting place and is decorated for Christmas. It has an annual budget of $21,000.
