A pet peeve I’ve had for some time is the new Google algorithms. They assume that I want, for example, local information rather than waiting for me to input the specific search criteria I want. This is dangerous, because my questions are not being answered objectively according to my ability to formulate search criteria – but according to my demographics, my perceived demographics, or the answers some control freak thinks I should have. This is especially harmful for science, or any attempt to research “all sides” of an issue.
