I was just reading some historical analysis about why socialism never had the appeal in the United States that it did in Europe. But then I scanned the AP wire and saw that Rep. Bernie Sanders, the only admitted socialist in the United States Congress (he runs as an independent, but doesn’t shy away from the term), enjoys a 66 percent favorable rating among the voters of Vermont. He currently has large double-digit leads over potential Republican foes in the race to succeed Jim Jeffords in the Senate next year.
The Ethan Allen State is in a swoon over a socialist. Man, I thought things were bad, but who knew?
