Another big veto from the Governor this week was on House Bill 950, the 2012-13 budget.  Here are a few things the budget did:

  1. Did not raise taxes or increase debt
  2. Filled a $240M Medicaid hole and requires a full audit
  3. Restored $143M in education spending left short by federal stimulus money
  4. Provided $27M for education reform that improves literacy, accountability, and rewards good teachers
  5. Gave teachers and state employees a pay hike and a cost of living increase to state retirees.
  6. Enacted a $50,000 income tax exemption for small businesses.

The General Assembly overrode the Governor’s veto of the budget in the late evening hours of July 2.   Here are the final vote counts:
