If the N&R didn’t write enough about Guilford County Schools Superintendent Mo Green, some pundits (not me) might accuse them of not providing adequate scrutiny. However, if they wrote about him too much, other pundits (again not me) might accuse them of shilling for Green. It’s a vicious cycle.

At any rate, after several news articles, a Doug Clark interview and a long lead editorial, the N&R comes back this Sunday with a long interview in the Ideas section.

One thing that jumped out at me was Green’s logic when touting Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s “learning communities,” which he said should “be on the table” here in Guilford County:

Q. Do you think it was working out in Charlotte-Mecklenburg?

A. It’s working very, very well. You can go to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools now and you don’t really hear deconsolidation being discussed. We went from losing a bond campaign pretty dramatically to winning one very dramatically.

Someone who kept a close eye on CMS during Green’s tenure there told me it was all about money.
