The Henderson County Commissioners voted 3-2 not to lower the property tax rate from 51.36 cents to 50 cents. Commissioners argued the reduction would only give $35 or $40 of the People’s money to people with big homes; but the People would lose $1.64 million. The schools would lose funding for their conservative budget that included 1006 new computers for testing the state may or may not require. Artificial turf and lighting for the new athletics and activity center was indispensible. Eighteen people (lowercase) spoke at the meeting. Oddly, everybody advocated action that would give them more money.
