Man has always watched others to see what works and what doesn’t, all except liberal man. Liberal man sees disaster in one country and says to himself, “We ought to try that here.” Liberal man sees command economies sucking the souls out of entire populations and says to himself, “My, that’s something we need to get going here.”

For decades liberals watched the Soviet bloc in admiration for their “good intentions” and their “solidarity” and their willingness to do away with “greed.” Even when it all fell apart, and the people who lived under those systems cheered their freedom, liberals were sad to see the “great experiment” of socialism ended.

The latest example of this boneheadedness is the notion of “green jobs” and “green technology.” Even as Spain, a country that pioneered the fool’s gold of “green jobs” sees it all come to naught, President Obama and America’s leftist statists still push it here.

[T]he truth about Spain’s “green jobs” boondoggle, which happens to be the one naively cited by President Obama no less than eight times as his model for the United States. It is now out there as a bust, a costly disaster that has come undone in Spain to the point that even the Socialists admit it, with the media now in full pursuit.

Even as European countries are beginning to see that their welfare statism has ruined their countries, our president and his appointed radicals and useful idiots in Congress continue to push us in that direction. One has to wonder why.
