Outgoing Mayor of Charlotte and defeated Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory is touting in an email this retrospective, produced by WCNC TV in Charlotte, which focuses on his time as Mayor. The only policy accomplishments from his 14 year tenure that were discussed in the piece, and apparently the most important to McCroy, were the building of the Time Warner Arena and the city’s light rail system. The first is a 100 percent government owned and paid for, $265 million basketball arena, used by a 100 percent privately owned professional basketball team, and the second is another 100 percent government owned project with a heavily government subsidized ridership that required a massive new tax on Charlotte citizens.
