Economist David Malpass (a regular Forbes contributor and now candidate for the US Senate in New York) explains here why the economy is going to remain listless: despite Obama’s vapid rhetoric about wanting to help small businesses, everything he and other pols are doing is crushing their willingness and ability to grow.

Predictably, Obama and his allies want to create the appearance of doing something to help small business, so they create some new federal loan programs and tax credits. All that will do is to enable Dem candidates to say, “See, we’re concerned about business” without changing the underlying trouble they have created.

Maybe someone should ask Bobby Etheridge what he thinks about this — but be ready to duck.
