Five state races remain up in the air, as they were close enough to justify a recount, should the apparent losers request it. Regardless of the results of recounts, the Republicans will still hold a majority in both houses of the General Assembly. Experts attribute the success of the former minority party not to any message citizens are trying to send about being overtaxed by a fiscally-irresponsible government, but to more intense campaign finance by Republicans. That being the case, Republicans should donate as taxes to a Democrat-led General Assembly the money they spend on elections and be happy.
