It was clear that lots of people wanted Benazir Bhutto dead. She had said as much on her return to Pakistan. I keep reading of the extensive security efforts made by her handlers. I also see that the government is being criticized for not protecting her better. But I have one question: Why was she standing up in an SUV’s sun roof after yesterday’s rally, providing a convenient target for any assassin? Just asking.

Also, it seems anyone who ever came in contact with Bhutto has written a gauzy remembrance of it. Two are in The News & Observer this morning. But I stumbled on this one that gives a decidedly different view of Bhutto.

UPDATE: From the WaPo: “Many Had the Desire, Means to Kill Bhutto.”
