Things are turning soft and brown for the Chicken Little global warm mongers. It’s a full retreat now. Was any of their research valid? It’s looking like not:

The academic at the centre of the ‘Climategate’ affair, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, has admitted that he has trouble ‘keeping track’ of the information.

Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.

Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is ‘not as good as it should be’.

The data is crucial to the famous ‘hockey stick graph’ used by climate change advocates to support the theory.

As many of the readers of this blog and of the John Locke Foundation’s Locker Room know, Dr. Roy Cordato, the JLF’s vice president and resident scholar, has been saying for years that the so-called “hockey stick” graph that purported to show a spike in warming in recent decades was a hoax. Here’s his big cup of vindication:

Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.

And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.

Despite the sordid revelations of lying and academic fraud from the global-warming academic community, some politicians are sticking to their guns on the issue, including President Barack Obama. The lure of increasing state control over our lives is stronger to many of them than truth.

What will be the punishment for these demagogues who have cost taxpayers billions with their resultant regulations and restrictions and forced the perfectly good incandescent bulb out of existenc? Will the academics lose tenure? Will Al Gore, the most irresponsible of all of them, lose the Oscar he won for his bogus “An Inconvenient Truth,” or his Nobel Peace Prize for thumping the global-warming tub for years while lining his own pockets with investments in the carbon-footprint industry?

That won’t happen, of course, but there are a lot of people lying low right now. Have you noticed the absence of Al Gore for the past several months? He must be snowed in.
