In his interesting column today on House Ways & Means Chairman Charles Rangel, George Will quoted one of the best goofball songs of the 1970s:

Rangel says his proposal is “revenue neutral” and would only
“rearrange” taxes. Much depends on how the alternative minimum tax and
the Bush tax cuts are dealt with permanently. In any case, there will
be a load of compromising on the road to Rangel’s horizon.

I believe this is the first time George Will ever has reminded me of the AM radio classics of my youth.

The conversation is likely to be much more serious next week, when Will helps the John Locke Foundation celebrate its 18th anniversary with a speech in Charlotte.
