Among the many bites from Sen. Richard Burr’s private gathering with Mooresville Republicans that ended up on You Tube and was passed along to CNN is this intriguing question: could (President) Hillary Clinton pardon herself if she deemed it necessary?

Burr addressed a question about how Clinton might obtain a presidential pardon if an FBI investigation of her private email server results in criminal charges.

“Here’s the problem: Could she pardon herself? And the answer’s yes. That’s not disputed.”

Whether or not the president can pardon him/herself is constitutionally ambiguous. But make no mistake— leave it to the Clintons to try something strange and unusual, i.e. leveraging every governmental and constitutional loophole for their own private gain.
