Incredibly, state legislators passed a third budget extension this week
as the talking continued over taxes and spending that will — one day — end up
comprising the next state budget. John Hood weighed in on Jones Street
negotiations when he was interviewed by WZTK-FM in the Triad, WBT-AM in
Charlotte, and WTVD-TV in the Triangle. Thursday night he focused on
the budget, and other issues, in a speech to 8th district Republicans
in Concord, while Don Carrington did the same for listeners to “The
Lockwood Phillips Show” on WTKF on the coast. Among the reported budget
stalemates is the amount of a raise for state employees. On Thursday,
Joe Coletti discussed the issue of government payroll in North Carolina
with Bruce Ferrell of the North Carolina News Network. The interview
developed from Coletti’s Spotlight paper on the subject.
