In case you missed it in the midst of Hurricane Florence, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has been accused of a sexual assault dating to his high school days. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Thom Tillis has a key role in whether or not the committee should send Kavanuagh’s nomination to the full Senate in light of these accusations.

For what it’s worth, the Charlotte Observer believes Tillis “can and should hot the pause button.”

Republicans outnumber Democrats 11-10 on the Judiciary Committee, which means any one Republican can delay Thursday’s vote if Democrats are united, as they are sure to be. Sen. Jeff Flake already has suggested he would do so. Tillis should join him and declare that he will not vote to move the nomination forward until the FBI, the full Judiciary Committee and the American people get to take a look with him.

Stay tuned.
