Wilmington will get its convention center.  The Senate passed the bill that will fund the center and end the lawsuit.  Now the taxpayers await the bill as Wilmington joins most NC cities already paying for convention center deficits: Asheville nearly $1 million per year and Charlotte $2.9 million per year.  Unfortunately, the example of the privately owned and operated Koury Center in Greensboro, which turns a nice profit, is not enough to convince city council members to stop building monuments to themselves with taxpayer money.
