The fiscally conservative message prevailed all over the country Tuesday — including in Chatham County, where progressive Democrats have enjoyed a lock on the county commission.

The results:

Brian Bock defeated Democratic incumbent George Lucier.
Pamela Stewart defeated Tom Vanderbeck.
Walter Petty defeated Carl E. Thompson, Sr.

Chatham County is a classic example of the power of grassroots activism in the conservative movement. Conservatives in Chatham are actively involved in monitoring and reacting to actions of local government, and their vocal opposition to progressive policies paid off Tuesday night.
