Mission Hospital has asked people to stop going to the emergency room. The hospital is full. Oddly, anybody who knows they’re not supposed to overutilize the emergency room doesn’t go there anyway. It is only people in dire need and those who don’t care to learn the emergency room is not a place for sniffles or that high-risk behavior is bad because it has a high risk of landing one in the emergency room that will go.
Hospital managers are not sure what’s behind the surge in patients, she said.
The number of patients in the hospital started climbing on Feb. 20 and the traffic has remained steady.
