The Asheville Tea Party is hosting the fourth annual We Read The Constitution event 1-4 p.m. Saturday in Pavilion No. 1 at Lake Julian to celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.

I used to keep a pocket Constitution in my glove box, in case I encountered a corrupt cop or something. Nowadays, I expect the best of cops to exclaim “That old thing?” tell me it is irrelevant, enlighten me about some supercessory law just tweeted, say I can’t read, or argue that rights are only things to make sure eleven-year-old prostitutes get plenteous drugs and abortions . . . Maybe I need to go to this and unwind.
