The City of Saluda heard recently that it has been selected as one of five new communities participating in the N.C. Small Town Main Street program.

That means it will be one of 44 towns to receive two years of consultation from the NC Office of Urban Development.

“With help from the program’s staff, we’ll look at all aspects of business in Saluda, including income streams, rents, street facades and characteristics unique to seasonal businesses,” [Saluda Mayor Fred] Baisden said. “We’ll then map out a plan for improvements the town could make to promote financial health, especially in these challenging economic times.”
