Ya think?

We are coming up on two months since UNCC student Ira Yarmolenko was found murdered on the banks of the Catawba River. Yet the state of North Carolina has yet to finish processing evidence the police found that might lead to her killer. You can sense the frustration in these comments to the Gaston Gazette:

Detectives have not found a suspect and are now awaiting the results of evidence analyzed in state labs. Mount Holly Police Chief David Belk said he doesn’t know when lab results would be completed.

“I really don’t know,” Belk said. “I think it is a little bit abnormal for it to take this long.”

We don’t know when the results will come back? That is insane. Has any local member of the General Assembly picked up the phone and given the SBI an earful about this unacceptable delay? Highly unlikely.

The SBI has arrest powers. And Ira Yarmolenko didn’t have a PAC.
