Triad Business Journal reports work has begun on Greensboro’s downtown Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts—–“sort of”—-as the Biz Journal puts it:

Two trucks delivered five loads of dirt.

Well … it’s something. The site has been basically idle since demolition work of old buildings on the site wrapped up about mid-2015.

Construction on the center itself was supposed to have already started, but it’s been delayed as the design is tweaked in an effort to reduce costs and keep the project within budget.

CJ reported on the so-called budget tweaks approved by the Greensboro City Council last month to close the $10 million funding gap.
