The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner in Alaska ran a sophomoric caption to a photo of Sarah Palin giving her speech in Hong Kong recently. Some snarky jerk of a copy editor put “A broad in Asia” over the photo, probably eliciting yuks from the other jerks on the copy desk. The newspaper’s more adult managers, however, were not amused. Here’s an excerpt from the managing editor’s mea culpa:

I will say it clearly again now: We made a terrible mistake.

Mrs. Palin, please accept this apology from the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

And please accept it from me.

I also apologize to our readers, many of whom have been devoted to this newspaper for years and who deserve better.
