Perhaps one day legislators and government officials will finally accept that people are people. That means that, no matter how sincere the intentions, pouring all the money we can print into anti-obesity education programs will not keep most people from eating too much and exercising too little.

In a free society, people have the right to behave illogically and unwisely as long as they don’t hurt others in the process. In return for that freedom, they must also take responsibility, meaning that health insurance premiums for the obese must reflect their greater health risks.
