In the news for some time has been a dispute between Jackson County and Maggie Valley. The NC DOT posted official signs marking the route to Cherokee as passing through Maggie Valley, and representatives from Jackson County were not happy at the tourism they would lose by the DOT’s decision to play favorites with routes. With a decisive blow, the petty dispute now has a brilliant ending. The Eastern Band of Cherokee has purchased billboard space advertising both routes.

The moral of the story might run something like: When all government fails, solve the problem.
