Two cheers for the local Knight Ridder outlet discovering that North Carolina’s election laws place unreasonable burdens on alternative parties. The county’s disenfranchised Libertarian Party members could’ve used that observation, oh, last month. It is not like the issue was unknown.
And let’s not kid ourselves, of course the incumbent parties in N.C. are afraid that “better ideas and better candidates for office” will emerge from newer parties. You could hardly do worse than the current lot.
