Gaston County commissioners voted Thursday to withdraw their representation on the Piedmont Equestrian Park and Conference Center Authority, but will continue to provide $120,000 per year for the authority.
Commissioners said they couldn’t support the authority’s management or its vision to create a horse park in remote Cherryville for economic development.
Apparently Golden LEAF, which awarded the project $150,000, still supports it. Golden LEAF president Valeria Lee told me they have paid $18,000 of their grant for the project so far.
