…but it ain’t gonna change the fact that Bank of America is permanently less attached to Charlotte. Does not mean that Brian Moynihan is gonna up and move the HQ away next week. Does mean that a guy living in Boston will not hang on everything that goes on in Uptown. Will not look outside his office window, be dismayed by all the folks cueing up for buses on Tryon outside his shining new office tower, and decide to go halfsies with the city of Charlotte on a new transit center.

Will not keep a fleet of lobbyists — and PAC dollars — at the ready to make sure that Charlotte enacts certain policy — he’s got bigger governmental concerns to worry about right now — like if BAC’s ownership of Merrill Lynch is about to be essentially outlawed by Barack Obama.

When even UNCC banking professor Tony Plath is saying things like, “If you just connect the dots here it’s likely that the evolution of the company will take the company toward New York,” the mayor of Charlotte phoning in does not make a dent.

Drop it — and focus on CMUD, CMPD, and things you can impact.
