Asheville City Council, pressured by a progressive citizenry, often gets a bad rap for being wanton with the sacrifices of taxpayers. Asheville City Council just received its Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts “fantasy plan.” Full implementation would cost about $1 million a year. To relieve the burden on taxpayers, it was suggested that developers contribute 1% of their projects’ valuations.

Swain County, however, did worse. Only 15% of Swain County’s land is on the tax rolls, but its residents are experiencing heightened cases of the I-wants. The commissioners hope to find the synergy for solving the two problems through grants. Some pleasurable entitlements surveyed Swain County residents need that totally slipped the mind of the majority of Asheville residents polled include racquetball courts, a Wii electronic game center, and a lazy river.

This outrage pales in comparison to Charlotte’s approach to preserving liberties. There, voters seem to have been educated to a frenzy for wanting to pay with interest to play harder.
