The Buncombe County Commissioners met this morning to adopt a contingency budget. They had postponed their vote, hoping for more cooperation from the state legislature by now. County staff wished to know whether or not legislation would pass to create a Recreation Authority to allow unelected Lords of Fun/Play Masters/Game Wardens to impose a tax on county residents. As it turned out, the bill was still hung up today. If money were fungible in government, it wouldn’t matter if the tax were levied by the Chillout Nazis or the county commissioners, would it?

Come to think of it, Recreation Authority would be a good name for a band. They could do a remix of YMCA. It would start out, “Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?”
